Privacy

What we do with your information

Short version: we use what you give us to answer your question or take your booking, we don't sell it to anyone, and you can ask us to delete it.

Who we are

Villa Aama is owned and operated by Aquarius Property Holdings Inc, of 58 Harbin Alleyne Road, Sandy Lane, St James, Barbados. We are the data controller for the information described here. For anything about your personal information, write to sophie@villa-aama.com.

What we collect

Why we're allowed to hold it

Two lawful bases. For enquiries and bookings, because it is necessary to take steps towards a contract with you, and to perform that contract once made. For our accounting and tax records, because we have a legal obligation to keep them.

We do not send marketing email unless you ask us to, and if you do you can stop it at any time.

Who else sees it

Nobody else. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Because the villa and some of our providers are outside the UK and EU, your information will be transferred to Barbados and the United States. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards our providers have in place for international transfers.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don't become bookings: up to two years, then deleted. Booking records: seven years, because tax law requires it. You can ask us to delete an enquiry sooner and we will.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we're using it. Write to the address above and we'll respond within one month. There's no charge.

If you think we've handled your information badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we'd rather you told us first so we can put it right.

Cookies and storage on your device

We use no advertising cookies, no analytics that track you across other websites, and no third-party trackers of any kind. We store exactly two things, both on your own device, and only after you've said yes:

WhatWhyHow long
aama.consent Records whether you agreed to the below, so we don't ask again Until you clear your browser
aama.dates The arrival and departure dates you last looked at, so we can offer them again 90 days

Neither contains your name, your email address, an identifier, or anything that could be used to recognise you elsewhere. Neither is sent to us or to anyone else — they stay in your browser, and we cannot read them from our end.

We ask before storing anything because that is what the law requires: the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations cover any storage on your device that isn't strictly necessary for the site to work, and remembering your dates is a convenience rather than a necessity. Declining costs you nothing — the site works identically, we simply won't offer your dates back to you.

Changing your mind. Clearing site data for villa-aama.com in your browser settings removes both entries and you'll be asked again on your next visit. If you'd like us to confirm what was stored, write to us, though in practice we have no way of seeing it.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which will see your IP address as part of serving them. Our host records standard server logs, and the booking form sends what you type to Lodgify to create your reservation.
